# Prefill tokens

> Create prefill tokens that fill in a booking form.

A prefill token stores answers for a meeting's booking form. Add it to a booking link as `?prefill_token=<token>` to open the form already filled in, without putting personal data in the link. Tokens expire one month after they are created. A token is as sensitive as the answers it holds, so do not share it publicly. For fields and response details, see the [API reference](/api/prefill-tokens/create). Sample output on this page uses `--json`.

## Create a prefill token

This command creates a prefill token. Use this when you want to send a client a booking link with the form already filled in.

```bash theme={"system"}
neetocal prefill-tokens create --data '{"name":"Oliver Smith","email":"oliver@example.com"}'
neetocal prefill-tokens create --json-file answers.json
```

Pass one of `--data` or `--json-file`. Both hold a JSON object keyed by the field code of each booking form question.

| Flag | Type | Required | Default | Description |
| - | - | - | - | - |
| `--data` | `string` | | | Booking form answers as a JSON object keyed by question field code |
| `--json-file` | `string` | | | Path to a JSON object used as the booking form answers |

```json Sample output (--json) theme={"system"}
{
  "data": {
    "prefill_token": "pft_428518d70eb35deab7a8"
  }
}
```
